Admission to the Citizenship of Karlobag, 1820
Full English translation of the 1820 document.
In the year one thousand eight hundred and twenty from the birth of Our Redeemer, in the eighth Roman indiction, on 20 May, at Karlobag.
During the reign, by the grace of God, of the Most August Sovereign Francis I, Emperor of Austria, Apostolic King of Hungary, Bohemia, Croatia, Dalmatia, Slavonia, Galicia, Lodomeria, Lombardy and Venice, Archduke of Austria, etc., etc.; and in the time of the Most Illustrious and Most Reverend Lord Ivan Krstitelj Ježić, Councillor to His Apostolic Majesty and Bishop of Senj, Modruš and Krbava.
His Excellency, the Most Illustrious Lord Pavao Radivojević, Privy Councillor of State to His Imperial Royal Apostolic Majesty, Commander of the Imperial Order of Leopold, commander of the 48th Infantry Regiment, Commanding General of the Karlovac and Varaždin Generalates, and of the military maritime towns of Senj and Karlobag, etc., etc.
We, the undersigned judge and first councillor of the local Imperial-Royal Magistrate, hereby give full and unequivocal certification to all whom this instrument may concern: that Mr Arsonio Abramovich, a resident of this town, submitted his humble petition to the Imperial-Royal Magistrate, requesting that he be admitted as a sworn citizen of this town.
Having duly considered the established circumstances, his petition in a sitting of our council, and his loyalty to the Most August Sovereign and to the fatherland, the petitioner Arsonio Abramovich, who has at all times conducted himself as an honourable person, was granted admission among the citizens of this town, with the right to enjoy the same rights and privileges as its other citizens.
He was at the same time solemnly admonished that his future conduct must give no cause for the loss of the rights and privileges thus acquired.
On that day Arsonio Abramovich took his solemn oath to the Most August Sovereign, to his king and to the community, promising faithfully to fulfil all obligations thereby assumed.
Accordingly, this certificate of citizenship is issued to the aforementioned Arsonio Abramovich, confirmed by us and authenticated with the seal of the Imperial-Royal Magistrate.
